Our Nature Programs provide accessible, hands-on learning experiences in gardening, plant care, and herbal knowledge. Rooted in relationship—with plants, the seasons, and the land we tend—these offerings invite participants of all ages to slow down, listen, and grow in connection with the living world.
Lavender is a mystical herbal fairy who loves to spread joy by teaching about ecology and hosting healing gatherings. She is a multi-dimensional creative and restorative facilitator who sews together kinship, ecology, and imagination.
She teaches about Arkansas plants and animals, environmental science vocabulary, how to create nature-based art, and encourages people to (re)connect with nature in an analog way through therapeutic horitculture. She's hosted outdoor adventures for community members to foster and nurture their relationship with the natural world.
Lavender is an herbal fairy because many plants have been used for medicinal properties and it's her fairy special job to learn about them and share the knowledge with others!
You can usually find Lavender hosting a class, frolicking on nature trails, drawing, and smelling the flowers she sees. To learn more about plants and upcoming gatherings click here to subscribe to her newsletter Shrinking Violets do Bloom and check out her YouTube, for fun educational videos!
Mission
Lavender the Herbal Fairy is committed to creating a loving and nourishing learning environment to restore memory of folks in urban communities on how to form reciprocal relationships with nature. We are committed to decolonizing our daily interactions with nature and transforming how people engage with the ecosystem we live in.
We offer therapeutic horticulture workshops centering historical and ethnobotanical knowledge honoring the diverse wisdom of our ancestors and community members. We coordinate seasonal gatherings that infuse our value of play and nature in a restorative way.
We dedicate ourselves to increasing accessibility and representation to communities typically underrepresented in outdoor activities in an effort to reclaim that the outdoors is a safe, healing, and abundant place for all people.
